project 52 // week 52 :: Respect the Process
Published December 31, 2010
With just a few hours left of 2010, I am both proud and satisfied that with this post I have officially conquered Project 52! Thanks to all of those who have followed the blog and left comments and checked in here and there– the support really does go a long way and I am truly thankful.
This photo is of the trio of icicles that formed outside of my bedroom window in the aftermath of the Blizzard of 2010. Watching them drip, drip, drip while lying in bed, a bit sickly and under the weather, I wondered just how long it took them to form this icicle. In theory, with each minute drop of water, the icicle was getting bigger, eventually forming it into its present state. It would perhaps get a bit longer, but would inevitably melt away completely. What does this have to do with anything? Well, these baby steps in the formation of the icicle is pretty much what Project 52 was all about for me this year. A process. Small minute little steps that have pushed me to become a better artist and photographer. It’s hard to look at drops of water starting to trickle down from your gutter and appreciate the icicle it will eventually become, because it’s the process in which it is formed that makes it spectacular. I felt like each week, the Project has pushed me to create and the process has made it fulfilling. So with that said, I am officially signing out for the rest of 2010…be safe, be happy, respect the process and respect the technique! Happy New Year and best wishes for 2011.
PS – Day 1 of Project 365 starts tomorrow! Dun, dun dunnnnnnnnn…..!!
