Project 52 // Week 13 :: The Nikonian
Published April 5, 2010
Week 13 = 25% done = me slacking off and not posting anything last week!
So I’m a quarter done through Project 52, and this is the first week I’ve been on complete major slackage — not to say I haven’t been shooting though! Keeping busy with a few projects here and there, and whilst I have nothing of interest to post, I decided to post the photos I had to take for my insurance company for some new equipment I’ve recently added to my arsenal of lenses: the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR I and the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 VR. Not that I’m trying to make a product review out of this blog post, but I love, love, LOVE these lenses. Super fast to focus, really crisp all around, and f/2.8 is never a bad thing. It’s safe to say, I probably won’t be buying anymore lenses any time soon, though I’m still trying to convince my fiancĂ© that we should register at Apple and Nikon for our wedding registry (not sure it’s going to fly though).
I definitely consider myself a loyal consumer when it comes to brands, especially with geeky electronics and clothes. For one thing, most photographers pretty much fall into either the Nikon or Canon categories, and while I’m a Nikon guy all the way, I don’t have anything against Canon. The Canon 5D MKII is still a beast, and until Nikon comes out with their own version of it with 1080p video, I will continue to salivate over it. I chose to go Nikon because my dad was a Nikon guy. I learned to shoot on his F5 for a film class I took in school and he had a decent collection of glass that he passed down to me. Had it not been for that, who can say that I’d be a Nikonian today…
